A Guantánamo representative to Karate-Do Panamerican Champioships

The Guantánamo Jander Guillermo Tiril, 84 kg, heads the Cuban team leaving today for Ecuador to participate in Pan American Championships in Karate-Do with venue in that South American nation’s capital Quito.

The athlete´s excellent results as part of his sports record enabled his inclusion in the national team since 2006 and ranks first in several championships in his category like the Cuba Cup, first and third issues of the Alba Games, the Cuban Sports Olympiad, Central American Games in Margarita Island, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The high quality of Karate-Do in Cuba enables the island to be historically included in the top five countries in these continental events in which the Granma Einar Tamames and Havana Yaneya Gutierrez were champions in the category of -60 and 68 kg respectively during the 2006 edition in the Dominican Republic.

The Guantánamo Jander Tiril, current captain of the national team takes part in these championships along with Gurierrez and Tamames, Havana Dennis Novo and Lester Zamora; Midiet Roque from Ciego de Avila and Francisco García Almenares, coach, leading the delegation that is to represent the Greater Antilles in the contest.
