Guantanamo, Cuba’s easternmost province is venue of the 46th National School Games and welcomes Karate-do athletes to compete at the Rafael Castiello Hall until July 10.
Over a hundred athletes will fight in the 13-14 and 14-15 categories in which Guantanamo have been outstanding because of the results shown in this sport, including the remaining categories.
In this event features the preparation of the thirteen athletes representing the eastern territory and the rest of the hundred and eight participants, and the trajectory of the region in that sport that has contributed with talents like Jandel Tirill, captain of Cuba´s national team.
The 46th issue of the National School Games has as venue the 14 provinces and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, in which Karate-do, Canoeing, Rowing, Chess, Basketball, Shooting, Soccer, Wrestling and Gymnastics have just started their competitios.
Guantanamo will compete be in 20 of the 26 sports with about 186 athletes and aims to achieve better results in comparison with the previous games having strong possibilities with Karate-do, Shooting, Athletics, Basketball, Boxing and Judo.
However, it is necessary to improve the performance of the remaining sports whose results placed the province in the painful 14th place in the previous games in which Havana, Villa Clara and Santiago de Cuba ranked 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
