The Olympic Champion and world record holder, Dayron Robles, went smoothly to the final at the men´s 110-meter hurdles, after dominating his heat with 13.22 seconds. Another Cuban also achieved its qualification to final, Orlando Ortega, who won his semifinal with 13.33.
According Dayron, the track is very quick and could throw surprises ahead.
In the short relay, the Cubans qualified for the final with 39.79 seconds. The quartet was made up of Davis Lescay, Maikel Herrera, Roberto Skyers and Victor Gonzalez. Meanwhile, in the long relay Cuba recorded 3.04,33 minutes, his fastest time of the season.
Also qualified for the men´s 800 meters final are Andy Gonzalez and Raidel Acea. Andy won his heat with a time of 1.48,21 minutes, the best of the stage. Raidel, meanwhile, went third with 1.50,04.
Athletics concludes today and there are great hopes with Dayron Robles, pole vaulter Lazaro Borges, discus thrower Yarelis Barrios, the javelin thrower Guillermo Martinez, as well as triple jumpers Yargelis Savigne and Mabel Gay.
